Hannah works as the Disinfectant Testing Scientist for The Pirbright Institute, whereby she assesses the efficacy of disinfectants against foot-and-mouth disease virus and swine vesicular disease virus at specified dilutions for both the Government and private companies. She operates under the ISO/IEC 17025 standard and also supports the Non-Vesicular Disease Reference Laboratory with such tasks as booking in samples, reporting and invoicing.
She developed an interest in practical virology while studying her M.Sc. in Biomedical Science, specialising in Medical Microbiology at the University of the West of England (UWE), and has a comprehensive quality testing background in High-performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and wet chemistry techniques from previous job roles, as well as molecular experience from her undergraduate B.Sc. in Molecular & Cellular Biology at the University of Bath, with Industrial experience at Public Health England (PHE) in Porton Down.
